Description

Update 25/01: Reduced speed and acceleration for more reliable printing. If you're still having issues, try silent mode

Read before printing: This print requires very good bed adhesion due to the tiny surface area of each segment. What recommend is:

  • Make sure your plate is clean. Better yet, use a high adhesion plate such as the Bambu SuperTack plate or the Biqu Cryogrip frostbite (if you have one of these you can probably turn off the brim).
  • Calibrate your flow rate. Over-extrusion results in a higher chance of parts getting knocked off the bed.
  • Use high quality PLA, and avoid silk filaments. Lower quality PLA generally have worse bed adhesion due to the fillers they put inside. Silk Filaments are finnicky and tend to warp when printing small parts, which will result it getting knocked off the bed.
  • Increase z-hop a bit or slow the print down

Be careful when pulling it off the plate! Pull it bit by bit, don't try to pull it off by stretching it.

Be Gentle when playing with it. PLA and PETG will never be as durable as the regular slinkys you can buy outside. If you want it to be extra durable, you can try TPU. I don't have any on hand so I can't test it, but if you do, let me know how it turns out in the comments!

Cute snake slinky for the year of the snake! Separated into parts for easy printing without at AMS (except for the small version's pupil eyes, since they're too small to be printed reliably on their own)

The large snake takes up the entire diagonal length of the build plate, so if you're using an A1 Mini, you will need to scale it down somewhat. A Keychain version is available for the small one.

If you're using matte filament or don't mind the uneven sheen, I'd recommend using adaptive layer height to smoothen the upper layers.

Test printed with Polyterra Summer. Any filament that isn't super brittle should be fine.
