Description

I made a gun launcher for this glider, I think you might want to check it out :)

Check out my latest glider:
F-16 Fighting Falcon Plane Glider by Tieq MakerWorld

Delta Wing Plane Glider - The Best Glider! by Tieq MakerWorld

Lightweight Plane Glider

This 3d printed glider only take 25 minutes to print and flies super well. Its centre of mass and lift is calculated so the plane slightly pitches up in fly, maximise the range.

With a weight of only 4.9g, this is a very light glider, making it an ideal and safe toy for kids.

The best way to throw it is slow and straight. Due to the lightweight nature of this glider, it is recommended to use indoor to avoid strong wind.

I have only tried PLA and PETG for this print, you can achieve even lower weight with ABS, PLA Aero or PLA-LW!

3D print instructions (Please read! especially if you don't use my print profiles)

  • Use 100% infill (Important! as it keeps the plane balanced)
  • In order to make the wings stronger, the first 2 layers need to be printed in 0.1mm layer height, and 0.2mm for the rest, try to go slow with 1st and 2nd layers. (All configured in my print profiles)
  • Make sure your print bed is clean and levelled (important, otherwise you may get defects on the wings)
  • Wait until the bed to COMPLETLY cooled down before carefully peel the plane off with a scraper. Take the plane off starting from the head using a scraper to avoid bending to the plane.

Happy Printing!

Replying to @Temujin :
With X1C, when you send the print, one of the parameter is flow calibration. Before the print, the lidar analyze the line to setup flow parameter.

No problem! Let me know if the issue persists. This happens to every print when the bed is not clean. You can avoid touching the bed with your hands, so you don't need to wash it often.

Overall very fun glider, using the author designed shooter is recommended as it would make the glider easier to fly for young kids. Would not recommend using PLA Matte to print the glider, makes it difficult to push into the shooter guide piece.

Thank you for the feedback! I also don't recommend PLA matte because it is not only brittle but also introduces too much friction to the launcher parts.

Would you say PETG be the best for this? Thanks :)

really good flies really far but the wings break after only a few throws and now I am going to add random letters to get as many points as possible. bygygtft cgbhbhbunc injdcnincejhjrcbuvghuvhghbcrhbjcfnifcjkncf)jcf jvjfincfj f j je njrvnj. j f jnivnjvf jvfjinf. I'm assuming that the layer is just too thin, and also it looks clear because its still sticked to the plate
