Old Du's Digimon Story:
I remember first watching Digimon during summer vacation in elementary school, around 2002, when I was about seven years old. I mainly got to watch it because a pay-per-view television station in Chongqing liked to air it (though not as enthusiastically as they aired Naruto). The advantage of pay-per-view was that it was always showing cartoons, with no commercials; the downside was that I watched the episode about fighting Devimon nearly ten times, yet still didn't understand how these kids got to the Digital World (I missed the first episode). Back then there were no smartphones or tablets, and as a kid, I'd never seen anything like it. That summer, my mind was full of Digimon; I'd often dream of traveling to the Digital World. I finally finished watching the first season after that summer (thanks to my old man who sponsored the DVDs, although I suspect he wanted to watch it too). Then, I went on to live an unchosen childhood, an unchosen adolescence, and an unchosen youth as a child who wasn't chosen. I have become a nearly thirty-year-old unchosen adult. To be honest, I don't really remember the plot anymore, but I can always recall the times I was moved to tears.
