Balcony Pins for GraviTrax PRO Pillars
Print Profile(1)

Description
Balcony Pins are intended to be used with GraviTrax PRO marble runs for 2 purposes:
- Use in conjunction with 3DRCONE's clip-on balconies to mount GraviTrax marble tiles at any height on the exterior of PRO GraviTrax pillars, especially in the areas where native GraviTrax PRO wall-mounted balconies cannot reach.
- Use as a decorative way to tie together GraviTrax PRO pillars more securely.
WHY YOU NEED THIS:
GraviTrax PRO has a big oversight: There is no good way to get marbles around GraviTrax PRO pillars if the walls attached to the pillars are angled more than 180 degrees apart. GraviTrax PRO includes short curved Bernoulli rails that can be used to traverse a 240 degree angle between adjacent walls, but these rails cause you to lose height very quickly (3.5cm of height lost per rail), and the marble exits the rail sometimes too fast. It is limiting to design a marble run around these limitations. The solution? The clip-on balconies by 3DRCONE and this Balcony Pin design allow you to mount a GraviTrax marble tile at any height at the previously inaccessible locations along the outside angle of GraviTrax PRO pillars. The clip-on balconies can be positioned at any of the six 1cm markings on the outside of a GraviTrax PRO pillar, but cannot be placed at the height where two vertically stacked GraviTrax pillars meet. The Balcony Pin with snap-in balcony fills the gap by offering a way to position a GraviTrax tile at the intersection between two vertically stacked pillars.

WHICH PARTS TO PRINT:
There are 2 versions of balcony pins:
- One has a hole, into which the snap-in balcony is inserted. NOTE: The fit is extremely tight, and is more or less intended to be permanent, though you can pry them apart by bending sideways while pulling, assuming you are using a tough flexible filament (brittle filaments will break). The pieces are designed for precision printers such as the Bambu Lab printers. So if you're using a low-accuracy printer (like Creality), you may find the pieces may not assemble.
- The alternate Balcony Pin design has no hole and is flat-faced, and therefore its only purpose is to tie together 2 GraviTrax pillars. It is included merely as an aesthetic choice. For any GraviTrax PRO pillar junction where you want to place a GraviTrax marble tile, you will need the Balcony Pin with a hole plus, with the snap-in balcony installed. NOTE: Everyone I ask thinks the Balcony Pin with the hole is more aesthetic anyway, so you can't go wrong only printing that version, which is dual-use for either holding a snap-in balcony, or used by itself to tie together GraviTrax Pillars.
There are 3 sizes of balcony pins:
- The default pin - used when GraviTrax PRO pillars are stacked directly on top of each other.
- Pin with 5mm gap - used when GraviTrax PRO pillars are stacked with a 5mm black GraviTrax height tile in between.
- Pin with 1cm gap - used when GraviTrax PRO pillars are stacked with a 1cm dark gray GraviTrax height tile in between.
HOW THEY WORK:
Balcony Pins simply clip into the wall-mounting slots on the exterior of GraviTrax PRO pillars. They snap in and easily pull off with their integrated corner grips. Use them to tie together GraviTrax PRO pillars.
Push the snap-in balcony into the hole of a Balcony Pin with hole. It is a very tight fit, and is more or less permanent. It may not fit if you don't have a precision printer like Bambu Lab. Check out the Masked Marble review of the Bambu Lab A1 printer for more info.
WHICH FILAMENT TO USE:
The filament in the pictures is Bambu Lab PETG-HF in Dark Gray color. I consider it a “very good” color match to the GraviTrax pillars color, though not exact as it's a tad lighter. However, since PETG-HF requires drying before printing, you can also try Bambu Lab PLA Basic in Dark Gray color. It's not quite as close, but still very similar. PS. Bambu Lab PETG-HF is also a “very good” color match to L*go Dark Bluish Gray color. Just sayin'…(And PS, for the record it's a bit backwards that Makerworld won't let me refer to L*go by name in this description, when I am merely referencing actual L*go colors rather than offering a L*go-compatible printable object.)
Balcony Pins are a remix of M_P_Cameron's V-pins and 3DRCONE's clip-on balconies for GraviTrax.
