Today, I present The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) 😉Privacy Luggage Tag - NOW in three sizes.
The tag features a convenient swivel mechanism, enabling you to easily display or conceal the information it contains. When Privacy mode is activated, two opposing magnets 'hold' the lid in place, ensuring your private information stays private. The innovative pass-through retention pin allows you to attach the Privacy Luggage Tag to your suitcase in a convenient method, such as using a 3D-printed zip tie, a commercially purchased zip tie, or a handmade paracord lanyard, or connected with my Paracord Screw Connector. That said, luggage handlers can be energetic while handling your bag, so print two tags, one for the outside of your luggage and one for the inside. So, if those luggage handlers put your bag on the wrong plane or the outside tag gets 'lost,' the inside tag can save the day and tell the airline to whom the bag belongs.
Quick Privacy Tip: Don't include your home address on the tag (I know my examples have addresses, but they are for illustrative purposes; feel free to change the text as needed). Airlines will not simply send the bags to your home without first speaking with you. Additionally, that information will alert others that there is likely no one at that address for at least the next day, making it a prime target for robbery. However, I would include your name, cell phone number, and email address as contact methods.
Before printing, to ensure the best possible print, please run the printer calibration if you haven't done so in a while. The text is set for 0.5mm to reduce the number of color changes. The text is customizable via Bambu Studio or your favorite alternative slicer. Three decorative design versions on the original tag are included: one featuring a Flower design, one featuring a luggage icon on the front, and a blank one (allowing you to add your own design to the front). The slim and stout versions only come in the suitcase variant.
Dimensions:
- Original - 103 x 50 mm.
- Slim - 99 x 26 mm
- Stout - 58 x 36 mm
Editing Text in Bambu Studio:
After opening the profile in Bambu Studio, please follow the steps below.
- Make sure you are in the "Prepare" tab.
- Toggle from "Global" to “Objects.”
- Click on the text field you'd like to edit.
- Click the "Text Shape" tool in the toolbar and edit the "Input text" field.
- After editing the text, you will have to readjust the text alignment by clicking and dragging the green box until you are happy with the text placement.
- To change the filament color, Right-Click the box with the number in it, and in the context menu that pops up, select "Change Filament," then pick the AMS slot that contains the color you want to use.

Assembly:
When assembling the tag, please insert the pin through the top cover of the luggage tag. It has been contoured for easier insertion. I included two copies of the pin, as they can be somewhat fragile, depending on your filament choice and filament condition. I like the fit and finish of PLA, but I also tested PETG, which works fine. The two magnets I used are 3x2 mm; for PLA, they can be press-fit into position with your fingers; for PETG, a touch of glue may be needed.
[***Designer Note***] {At this point, I have successfully printed dozens of these tags for friends and family using various filaments. However, some rolls of my filament, no matter what I try, do not work with the connector pin. Some of the factors that could be a silent saboteur of a connector pin include: filament age and storage, moisture absorption, and material composition. I'm sure other factors not listed here also play a role. Unfortunately, individual rolls of filament can differ in quality even from the same manufacturer.}
The magnets are part of an assortment I purchased here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WZTSQ9Y?
[Edit Log]
1-22-2025 - I separated the tags into their own print profiles, and although I am not very artsy, a request was made, and I was able to accommodate them. So, I added one with a freshly designed flower icon.
1-24-2025 - I added a link to my Paracord Screw Connector in the description, included a couple of new pictures, and disabled ironing in the print profiles, as I do not believe the extra print time is worth the minimal surface effect.
6-23-2025 - Added the slim and stout privacy luggage tag variants and some photos.
7-17-2025 - Added the designers note about the connector pin.
I appreciate your time and consideration in reviewing this design for your needs. If you enjoyed it, please follow me for more creative works and explore my other designs. Thank you! 😎
