Invisible Hidden Wall Mount for Skis
Print Profile(1)

Description
After years of leaning my skis up in a corner, I decided to come up with a solution. And not just a storage solution, but a way to display my skis. The mount disappears and the skis seem to simply float on the wall! The mount is shaped like the toe of a ski boot and the skis simply rest on it. One ski hangs on the mount and the other ski effectively hangs on the other ski using the brakes. If you do not have brakes or your brakes do not hold your skis together (see my pair on the far left) a simple strap or piece of tape should do the trick.
Printing
These will print well with any filament. The standoffs are easiest to remove if printed in PETG due to the increased flexibility. The base can be printed without supports if you flip it so the largest flat face is on the bed but the heads for the screw holes might not turn out as well due to the overhangs. For this reason I recommend printing as is with regular supports which pop right off and leave a nice finish.
Mounting
The base is designed to be simply screwed into a wall using common deck screws. I have put all of my mounts directly into drywall, not studs, and they hold my heaviest skis with no problem. It's easiest to screw the base and any spacers into the wall and then add a standoff if needed.

A spacer can be used for a marking/drilling guide if needed. There base has 4 screw holes, 2 centered and 2 on either side. I prefer to mount with two screws in the holes on either side, but if mounting to a stud, the centered holes will be much easier to align with the stud.
--------------------------------------
Along with the base, there are multiple different sizes of standoffs and spacers. These help make sure the mount can fit any bindings properly, allowing them to hang straight up and down and keeping them from hitting the wall.
Spacers
The spacers simply hold the base further from the wall. Some ski/binding combinations need spacers so that they will not scratch the wall when mounted. The spacers simply go against the wall and are not directly attached. They are simply sandwiched between the base and the wall with the screws passing through the holes.
Standoffs
The standoffs help adjust the angle that the skis hang at relative to the wall. If the bottom of the skis are closer to the wall than the tops of the skis, you will want to add a thicker standoff. If the tops of the skis are closer to the wall than the bottoms, the less standoffs are required. The spacers should simply press into base with the prongs going into the holes for screws on either side. Sometimes the fit can be tight but you should be able to pull them out without a problem. A bed scraper is the perfect tool to help pry it out if needed.
