Description

If you are a wood worker, you probably have multiple carpenter squares around your shop.  And alot of the fancy squares with fences, or even the aluminum add on fences, can be spendy.  So, I decided I wanted a removeable fence that I could move from one carpenter square to another, and made my own.  I figured if it worked well for me, someone else might also want to print their own and have a carpenter square with a removable fence that you weren't concerned about dropping, dinging, or damaging!  Because, well, you can just reprint another one in a couple of hours!

This fence is finished off with (2) m5x6x7 heat press threaded inserts and (2) m5x10mm Knurled Thumb Screw (both of which can be obtained inexpensively and easily from amazon).  You'll need a method of heat pressing the threaded inserts into the holes.  I used a simple old soldering iron to press the inserts.

This will fit carpenter squares up to 5mm or 3/16" thick, and it approximately 7" long.

It can be used on either side.  The thin side has a ¼" face for thinner materials, and the long edge has of about 1" for thicker materials.

The thumb screws make it easy to remove, swap to a different measuring device, or just slide it down larger carpenter squares as necessary.
