They keyring caliper I designed turned out to be such a handy little tool I thought why not make a bigger one. It has the same advantages of being really pocketable with no sharp edges but has a measurement range similar to standard calipers.  This should suffice for most people to be able to CAD up designs around the house for 3D printing.

I had quite a bit of trouble getting the print quality where I wanted it with such a tall narrow model. When I tried to print it the same as the keyring version I ended up with a lot of waviness at the top of the print. I have fixed this by designing in a brace between the two parts that you break off at the end. This should give you a really good surface finish.

I have uploaded the step files for the two parts as well as the assembled version with the brace in case you want to print it with your own settings.
