Description

My submission for the Train contest is a light weight articulating train set. Modeled after the Brio or Ikea or Thomas the Tank Engine wooden sets, it has articulating axle holders to traverse tight curves and hills.

Before the contest I had gotten the idea to make these because my 5-year old has gotten into the wooden track trains, and the battery powered engines seem to quit once you get so many wooden cars attached. So along comes the idea to make lightweight printed versions.

I have included 5 main models, Engine, Passenger Coach, Tanker, Boxcar, and open topped hopper.

There's also separate models and print files for the swivels and the articulating magnetic couplers (which fixes a long running complaint for these trains)

I tried to make these as easy to print as possible so they will all print without supports. Some of the files could benefit from brims but if you use a super tack plate, you shouldn't need them.

I also tried to make these available to make with the least amount of hardware. You CAN use the specified hardware and have just absolutely awesome trains, or you can use some of the alternative “printed hardware” and avoid having to order some of the metal parts.

Everything should be available from the bambu store except the optional metal axle hardware which comes from Amazon here: https://a.co/d/7IuqXUu if you choose not to buy them, the printed ones work perfectly fine with a bit of superglue to attach them.

I hope you like them as much as my kid does.
