DIY Cassette USB-C SSD enclosure (no AMS needed)
Print Profile(2)

Description
For all RETRO Lovers
I designed cassette enclosure for external ssd (NVME or SATA). There are still small issues with stringing and not uniform surface or small warping and gaps between cassette parts, but it works! And what is more important - cassette is same size as standard one and fits into cassete box :)
What will You need?
1. 3d printer and filaments ;)
2. laser or ink printer for labels (see provided file)
3. some modelling skills and tools: glue, exacto knife, scissors etc.
4. nvme or sata ssd and usbc adapter. There are many on Aliexpress. I've used those, but there are many similar. You must search for those wit PCB up to 98 mm long and 24 mm wide.
5. 4 x M 1.6 x 6 screws. No inserts needed.
6. OPTIONAL - cassette boxes
ASSEMBLY
1. Remove integrated supports from cassette halves and spools. There are small integrated supports (little balls) at the back. Remove them if You want to add fake tape

2. Clear all stringing and loose filament.
3. To get better fit between halves you may need a boit of sanding or scrubbing with sharp knife
4. Cut cassette windows from thin piece of clear plastic (You can use foil packaging for those ssd enclosures). You can use provided templates (on labels file). Glue windows to cassette.
5. Glue fake tape halves together and than lue them to one of cassette halves
6. Place fake tape at the back (if You cut all supports perfectly it would be a bit loose and rattle like in real deal!).
7. Place spools/reels inside cassette (no need to glue them - they can turn around freely.
8. Place ssd adapter and disk inside cassette,
9. Screw cassette halves. There is no need for inserts. Just not overtighten screws. They should ast for 5-10 opening and closing of a cassette (at least from my experience).
