NATO - the North Atlantic Treaty Organization - is the world's premier military alliance. It is a defensive alliance that has its origins in British-American cooperation (the Atlantic Charter) against Nazi Germany in World War II.
Peacekeeping missions aside, NATO has only been activated once per Article 5 of its Charter, which states that an attack on one member is an attack on all. This was when the nations of NATO supported the United States in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on New York City and in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001.
In contrast, the Warsaw Pact - a superficially similar organization that was made up of the Soviet Union and its subordinate European satellites - was only ever activated to invade its own member states (Hungary, 1956; Czechoslovakia, 1968) to keep them from straying from strict Soviet dogma.
Example printed in Polymaker Polyterra Army Blue and Bambu Lab White PLA Matte.
