In our AGH Biomarkers Analysis LAB, we are integrating syringe pumps to improve precision in fluid handling for biomarker research. These pumps enable accurate dosing, enhancing reproducibility in microfluidic and analytical applications. Automation streamlines workflows, reducing human error and increasing efficiency. This innovation supports cutting-edge biomedical research, pushing the boundaries of diagnostics and personalized medicine.

BASE

  1. All socket head screws were swapped for M3x16 (The holes in which the screws are mounted were deepend accordingly)
  2. M6 threaded rod changed to TR8x2 screw (8mm pitch)
  3. The hole below the syringe (Where the lead screw is supposed to go) was rounded and the diameter was changed from 3.5mm to 6.5mm
  4. The syringe holder module was changed entirely (both the knob and the holder itself) and the elastic foam was added in order to ensure stability of the syringe.

CARRIAGE

  1. The crosswise hole in the middle of the carriage as well as on the bottom of it were sealed shut.
  2. The hole allowing the lead screw to pass through the carriage was enlarged and deepend to fit the TR8x2 nut. 4 additional holes were made for M3x10 screws to hold the nut in place
  3. The cavities made for the linear bearings were shortened from 20mm to 19.1mm (0.05mm free space on both sides of the bearings)
  4. The back of the carriage was drawn-out to fit the T8x2 nut
  5. Pump cover slide element was removed from the project

     

        SOFTWARE

  1. steps2mm and mm2steps functions were changed to match the screw pitch of the T8x2 lead screw. One revolution of the motor shaft equals 8mm displacement of the carriage.       
  2. The area of the syringe was changed accordingly to the used model (It is important to establish the area of the model you will be using in your project beforehand).
  3. The title of the GUI was changed to “Poseidon Pumps Controller - Biomarkers Analysis Lab AGH 2024”
