Description

_____VERSION 2.0 of Magdust!  I Changed the look of the Magdust to make it more aesthetically pleasing, and added a 2.5" version.  I use the 2.5" version on my router table and miter saw!  One other change that I made was the addition of 2 more magnets.  I always thought the 8 magnet version was more than strong enough….but some people disagreed.  Let me know if anyone wants a 4" Magdust 2.0 with 8 Magnets…..I can upload it.

Hey guys, I have been incorporating 3d printing into my woodworking for about 6 years now.  This project started about 4 years ago when i got a proper dust collector.  I have a small shop, so I only have one run, coming off of that run is a 6' length of 4" flex pipe.  Since I dont have the convenience of having a dedicated run to every tool (they need to be mobile in a two car garage), I figured that i could make switching the dust hose from tool to tool as painless and FAST as possible.  I used to use a keyed clamp, they work, but they are sometimes a pain, and break more often than not.  The obvious solution is magnets AND 3d printing.  Each MagDust prints in about 2 hours, and is more than strong enough to withstand workshop abuse of getting dropped and kicked around, especially when printed in PETG.  I have printed and tested both versions (PLA and PETG) over the last few years.  BE MINDFUL of the polarity of the magnets.  I find that printing one Magdust in a different color than the others helps with.  For example, in my own shop the MagDust fitting that comes off of my dust collector line is WHITE, and the MagDust fittings that go on all of my machines is BLACK.  When insterting the magnets (nice tight press fit)……BE SURE THAT THE POLARITY IS CORRECT.  If you go the same route that i did and print one a different color than the rest, be sure that the master fitting's polarity is the opposite of all of the other fittings that go on your machines!  Have fun!  YOU NEED EIGHT (8) 10x3 Magnets for EACH MagDust…..you can get these on Amazon.
