Boost Me (for free)

"Ah, you must be the dragon everyone is talking about. Well, dragon or not, I'm afraid there is a "small fee" to open the bridge. It will cost you 100 of your gems to cross."

These are the gems found scattered among the lands of Avalar and the Forgotten realms from the games Spyro 2 and Spyro: Year of the Dragon from the Playstation 1.

The print settings are all based on Silk filament, with the slower wall speeds intended to give the gems a good shine. If you are using something like basic PLA feel free to use default settings.

I found the models printed better when cut into 2 pieces, which also suits those using a Textured PEI plate but still want all surfaces to have a smooth finish. The dowels are slightly off centre, so take care when fitting them together.

These are based of models rips that are posted on The Model Resource.

Filaments used:

  • Bambu PLA Silk+ Candy Red
  • Bambu PLA Silk+ Candy Green
  • Bambu PLA Silk+ Purple
  • Bambu PLA Silk+ Gold
  • Polymaker PolyLite Silk PLA Magenta

Edit 02/03/2025:

  • I've increased the wall loops from 2 to 3, this seems to help make the surfaces smoother and less prone to bumps
  • I noticed the top surface of the gold gem was not leveled out, causing the top of the gem to have weird layer lines. I've leveled it out so it prints cleaner.

Edit 1/9/25

  • I have shortened the dowels that sit in the gem to help line up the print, as I have had a few prints where the dowel is too tall and the two gems halves don't snap together properly. I've tested this and it appears to have fixed the issue.
