Description

Hello!

Today I present this auto watering -Orimerc Wick- system for plastic water cups.

As summer is soon here, a lot of us want to start getting these seedlings going so that they can be planted in either our gardens or balcony pots. But the problem most people face is forgetting to water the plants while they are in the starting stages.

With this system you can forget all about that hassle:

  1. Make a small hole in the bottom of the plastic cup.
  2. Thread the Orimerc through the hole so its around 3 cm / 1 inch inside.
  3. Fill the cup with a 60/40 blend of Soil and either Perlite or Gravel. (this is so that the roots get enough oxygen)

(Don't compact the soil blend in the cup. it would not allow enough oxygen through if you do)

  4. Place the cup inside this model as shown in the pictures, pushing it down gently until it sits firmly in place.
  5. Put either 1 seedling or a 2-3 seeds in the soil and cover with something that will hinder the evaporation of moisture.
  6. Put the Model and the cup in a deep-ish container that will act as a reservoir.
  7. Fill the container with water but make sure there is distance between it and the bottom of the cup.

Enjoy the fruits of your labour, you will need to water the cup the first time but after that the wick would supply enough water to the plant.

Once the plant is big enough you can start putting nutrients in the water to get em to grow faster and healthier. You will be replanting them in your balcony or garden in no-time and without the hassle of watering each day.

This model also has 2 different sized holes in which to place the cup depending on if you want the cup to be closer or further away from the water or if the size of your cup is bigger or smaller.
