Description

UPDATE 3/10/25:

This update adjusts the partition thickness between compartments, and makes the snack tray fit equally well between glass, plastic and stainless steel version of the IKEA food container. Now the container will drop down into a recess, and a finger slot has been added for removal.

_______________________

This storage tray enables easy access to snacks, drinks, remote controls and the like from the bed or couch. The wide base helps to keep the box stable. I wanted to design the tray around a food-safe container to allow snack storage with a removable, cleanable insert. I settled on the IKEA 365+ food storage container in the 25oz/.75l size as it should be obtainable by most. There is also a stainless steel version of this container if you prefer, or if you cannot obtain the plastic one. The glass version also fits, but sits a little proud of the top face. (Sits flush now. See update above)

The cupholder will fit cups measuring up to 100mm in diameter.

Please exercise care with drinks, as the box can still be tipped over if jostled excessively. Since the cupholder is in the corner, it is best to counterbalance the drink with something to snack on ;)

NOTE: The compartments have been slightly revised since the photographs were taken.

The dedicated pen holder has been removed, and one of the compartments was subdivided to provide the same pen holder functionality. Please see the 3D preview to confirm the current configuration.

PRINTING: This is a big print, covering almost the entire build plate. Proper first layer adhesion and warp prevention is imperative. I printed this on the Bambu Cool Plate SuperTack, and I didn't have any adhesion/warping/lifting issues. I have not tested it on the PEI plate, but with a cleaned build plate, purple glue stick and good quality PLA, you should have no issues. Please do not adjust the infill or bottom layers, as these are tuned for warp prevention.
