Description

NEW! As a thank you to the community for all the support and the popularity of my original 4L cereal box silica container, I’ve created an updated profile version with an integrated dovetail link for the hygrometer mount. I hope it makes tracking your filament storage conditions even easier!

This body keeps the original sealed silica container concept, but now includes a built‑in dovetail connector so you can slide on the hygrometer support without needing the separate outer ring. That means new users can simply print this box plus the hygrometer mount and be ready to go, while existing users can still use the standalone ring version on their already‑printed boxes if they prefer that upgrade path.

The hygrometer mount itself is fully press‑fit and supports both common round hygrometer variants with tabs at 0° and 30°. As with the previous design, tolerances are intentionally snug, so make sure your printer and filament are reasonably calibrated; if needed you can uniformly scale the model a few percent in the slicer for a perfect seal and fit.

There is also a “ring” profile to retrofit hygrometers onto previously printed lids, or choose this integrated version for new prints where you want everything designed together from the start. The filament-type text (e.g. “PLA”) is still added in the slicer, so you can easily change or remove it to match whatever material you are storing.

Thanks again and enjoy using them!

Do you like this design? Was it easy to print and fun? Is it working well for you? I'd love to hear your feedback and see your prints! If you think it deserves a boost, a free like would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! 😊

This is a 3D-printed desiccant (silica gel) holder designed to fit snugly into the lid of popular 4L cereal storage boxes, which are widely used for storing 3D printing filament spools.

Features:

  • Snug Fit, No Glue Required: This design allows the desiccant box to securely snap into place within the lid's round holder using slight pressure—no need for glue or modifications.
  • Efficient Moisture Control: Holds silica gel beads to absorb moisture and keep filament dry.
  • Screw Cap Design: The top section unscrews for easy refilling of desiccant.
  • Optimized Ventilation: The slotted design maximizes airflow while preventing silica from spilling.
  • Reusable & Durable: 3D printable with PLA, PETG, or ABS for long-term use.

Compatibility:

This is a simple yet effective solution to keep your filament dry and prevent moisture-related printing issues. Happy printing!
