Range Day Trophy - gag and real

Imagine the laughter and fun this fantastic gag gift can bring to your buddy who misses the most during a range day. It's not just a trophy; it's a whole new level of shooting event entertainment. 

My neighbor told me that he and his friend group were going shooting the next day and were adding a new person to the mix.  And, of course, the chop-busting over who would be the worst shooter commenced immediately.   That chop-busting spawned the idea for this trophy.  I went home, pulled out a 3" 12 Gauge shotgun shell, and started designing a 1-to-1 model of it in Fusion 360.  Some of the photos have a real shotgun shell included for comparison. To display a top of the trophy base. I had the print ready for him to take along on range day morning; he stuffed it in his range bag, pulled it out at the end, and joyously awarded it to the day's worst shooter.  Needless to say, this was a BIG hit; even the guy who received it LOVED it. Good times were had by all.

When you give the award, say in an announcer voice: And the Today's Worst Shooter Award goes to…

The trophy's dimensions are 70 x 70 x 85 mm. The trophy base and shotgun shell are each on their own print plate to save print time and filament.  This print requires an AMS (unless you want to hand-paint it); for filament, I used these PLAs: Amazon Basics Gold Silk, GiantArm Silver Silk, Bambu Lab Basic Black, and Bambu Lab Bronze.

What started as a gag has morphed into a full trophy line up. I now have profiles for Today's Best Shooter, Today's Worst Shooter and a blank profile  you can add your own text to.

To assemble, place the shotgun shell on top of the trophy base post.  You can leave it as a press fit or add some glue for additional security.

Not just limited to range days, you could even award this trophy to the person who shot the worst while hunting, such as duck, dove, geese, deer, etc.
