Description

This is an external spool holder that fits the plastic container or any other container you can find that fits a generic 1kg spool. It was specifically design to be super airtight for the use of TPU printing. As TPU is stretchy and flexible, ball bearing are not suitable for this application.

The print settings are optimized for speed as well as strength, and using 3 walls & slightly thicker layer width. If you are really tight on time and don't mind slightly less strong structure, please use the 2nd faster profile with only 2 walls.

Please note that I've also added a small circular indent to indicate where the seam of the main shaft holding the spool. Make sure to have this part at the bottom when assembling as it will make sure that the seam doesn't restrict the smooth rolling of the spool. To further improve the rolling smoothness, a slight application of lubrication oil will help too, but is not necessary.

The file also comes with a separate plate for TPU gasket to print. It will work without the gasket, however, with it, the moisture level within the container can be maintained below 14% throughout a few days of printing.

When not in use for printing, I recommend attaching a PTFE tubing with a cap on the end. Keep the extra filament coming outside of the box within this tube, this way there's no need to open the box to rewind the spool to retract the filament & re-opening the cover for the next print.

Lastly, feel free to contact me if you need any modification for your container.

The container I use for this is Elianware E-1644 3800ml

Here's a few alternate container from Amazon you could use.
