Description

I've been playing around with the idea of switching colors mid-print to imitate a multicolor print, and I feel like this quick and easy print is the best way to put it to the test. This little Tic-Tac-Toe playset is as easy to print as it is cute: by adding a pause at layer 4 you can switch colors manually and achieve a very classy-looking two tone color scheme. They're perfect to have handy for a quick match, or even to give away as gifts.

So the process is this:

  1. Begin the print with the color you want to show up on the top and bottom of the box, and the faces of the pegs.
  2. At layer 4, the print will pause automatically and you must then swap spools.
    1. Do NOT continue the print until you're 100% done loading the new color!
    2. Use the same type of filament.
  3. Allow the print to finish as normal. The second color will be the body of the box and the pegs.

And that's it!

The lid of the box has the # lines on both sides, so you can use it either way (only the top face has the dual tone effect). The pegs should remain firmly attached during gameplay without getting hard to remove- but in the case they do there's always a leftover peg you can use to push them out from the other side into the box.

I must stress that you should only use two colors of the same type of material: no mix and matching filaments of different requirements. So please make sure your two colors are 100% compatible before printing this toy.

You can choose to ignore or remove the pause, and the print will still work just fine with a single color! And of course, if you do have an AMS, you can also remove the pause and color it as you normally would.

Note: This toy includes small loose pieces, so I would not recommend giving it to a small child.
