Description

This 3D-printed artwork, inspired by the visionary Carlos Cruz-Diez (1923–2019), explores the optical and kinetic interactions of contrasting colors and grey through a carefully designed striped pattern. Cruz-Diez, a master of kinetic and optical art, revolutionized the way we perceive color, proving that it is not static but exists in a continuous state of change, depending on light, movement, and viewer perspective.

In this piece, ultra-thin grey separators enhance the illusion of shifting tones, while curved and perspective-altering lines create an effect of dynamic motion—echoing Cruz-Diez’s celebrated Physichromies. When viewed from different angles or under varying lighting conditions, the artwork appears to vibrate and transform, embodying the chromatic phenomena Cruz-Diez dedicated his life to exploring.
