Description

This system allows a quick switch between 0.5x/1x/2x lenses for AmScope or Eakins stereo microscopes. Slightly twist the lens to unmount it from the microscope.

Note that the lens is positioned lower with this system on, so that some optical distortions are possible, however I was not able to feel any difference in practical usage.

Compatible with ring lights (e.g. MTC-209 or AmScope 144 LED light). Can be used to colour code the lenses.

Optionally, a case can be printed to store 2 lenses inside.

There is an additional thickness adapter to make the 1x lens (flat glass) taller so that it's possible to mount/unmount it without removing the lights.

The mounts use 48 x 0.75 mm thread.

Additional parts list

  • 4x1mm magnets (6 magnets for each component)

Print notes

  • No supports needed
  • Printing each part in different colours allows to easily distinguish the lenses at a glance
  • Decrease layer height to produce high quality threads (recommended layer height 0.1mm). If the thread is too loose/too tight it is also possible to slightly scale the model in X and Y directions (not Z as it will distort the threads!). Overall, loose thread fit is advisable for this model.
  • The model is designed to friction fit the magnets, but universal precise fit is not possible. Feel free to play around with XY-hole compensation setting in the slicer to achieve the best fit, or mount magnets with glue
  • Printing “by object” rather than “by layer” is recommended to achieve better threads
  • The container lid is printed in vase mode (0.4mm wall thickness)
