  • Double edge razor blade x 1:

Description

Snap-together PTFE tube cutter that’s precise, safe, and seriously satisfying

Please know the The Bowden Puck Pro is available by clicking here! It improves alignment, grip, and versatility in a way you’ll notice immediately.

Want a keepsake tool so satisfying that you’ll proudly show it off to your geeky 3D-printing friends?  So beautiful you won’t want to shove it in a drawer?  So unique you’ll consider passing it (and your love for plastic) on to the next generation?

Oh, and did I mention it’s also an insanely good PTFE tube cutter?  Like a hot knife through butter—effortlessly slicing 4mm tubes with wicked precision.

Also, no screws, no fuss, just a satisfying snap-fit assembly.  However, if you plan to cut a lot of PTFE tubes, you might want to see the magnetized version. Also, if you're invested in Gridfinity, @Wolverine99 was kind enough to create a neat little bin to hold this puck. Thank you @Wolverine99!

(On a side note, if you have an A1, have you ever been hit by its moving bed?  Or just need a tidy spot for your A1's tools?  If so, check out my A1 Front Drawer!)

Features You'll Love:

  • Ultra-safe – The blade stays protected, keeping fingers out of harm’s way.
  • Ultra-grippy – Custom-designed knurling for a firm, satisfying hold.
  • Tool-free assembly – Snaps together—no screws needed!
  • Aesthetic & functional – Looks so good, you’ll actually want to leave it out.
  • Uses common DE razor blades – No special refills required.

Important Notes:

  • Precision matters – Tight tolerances mean your printer needs to be dialed in before printing.
  • Designed for 4mm tubes only – Specifically optimized for Bambu's tubing. Larger tubes tend not to have enough structural support for a double edge razor blade.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Print both halves – I found that printing by object is a little faster than by layer. If you're aiming for a two-tone masterpiece, this method also saves filament and lets you fully flex the AMS.
  2. Insert a blade (carefully) – Use a NEW double-edge razor blade and slide it into the holder. DO NOT BEND IT. Make sure it's fully seated around the middle and sides before moving to the next step.
  3. Snap it together – Place the guide on the holder and press them firmly together. Tolerances are tight to ensure a clean cut, so try pressing in one side first before tackling the other. YOU WILL NEED TO PRESS HARD.
  4. Take a moment to admire your work, and the tool – (Or not. You can skip this step.)
  5. Align the puck’s edges – Line up the protrusions on both halves to ensure everything is in place.
  6. Insert the tube – Feed a PTFE tube through the top hole, starting from the outside of the guide and threading it through the holder’s eyelet.
  7. Cut with precisionSLOWLY rotate the holder until the tube slices clean through.

Congratulations, you now wield the power of The Bowden Puck!

Tube Fit & Hole Tuning

The puck is designed for a slight friction fit with PTFE tubes. If sliding the tube through is too tight or loose (which can happen as filaments might shrink differently):

  • Too tight? Increase X-Y Hole Compensation by +0.025mm
  • Too loose? Decrease by −0.025mm

Reprint guide as needed until the tube slides through snugly.

More info: Bambu Studio: X-Y Hole Compensation

Note: Adjust X-Y Hole Compensation if needed, not X-Y Contour Compensation.

Changelog:

Mar 31, 2025: Improve snap-fit and mating force
