Print in place suspension links to suit all TRX4M variants and custom builds. They're perfect for customising your builds, colour matching, lengthening, shortening, increasing ground clearance or clearance between links when flexed. Also ideal for testing and running different setups before forking out for custom links.
I've installed these on a 6x6 project, using ten 53mm links and two 48mm links (which would have required me buying FIVE sets of standard links to make it work). I've had best results printing in PETG-CF and during my testing they seem to hold up just as well as any other links I'm using (just basic crawling, nothing extreme).
There are multiple profiles uploaded to allow for the best fit for your filament and machine. I strongly recommend printing the test profile first and again anytime you plan on using a different filament, as in my experience the results can differ a fair bit.
If you like these then add a like or a boost. If you have any issues or would like some different lengths, types, etc, then hit me up in the comments.
NOTE:
- These links are slightly larger 5mm diamater (vs standard diameter of 4mm), so if you have a rig with very tight clearances between the links when flexed, then you may have issues with these clashing. I've used the bent links installed upside-down to good effect in these cases, see the front and rear link in the 6x6 photo. Being plastic they seem to slide nicely over the rocks, so the reduced clearance hasn't had any noticeable effect in my testing
- I also haven't tested these on an HT, or MT model, so I can't guarantee the clearances or functionality on these models
DETAILS
- Test profile provided to check ideal tolerances based on filament/machine
- Multiple profiles provided for different tolerances
- Straight and bent links available in multiple sizes to cater for customisation and all standard lengths for standard and high trail models
PROCESS
- Print the TEST profile to check which tolerance will work for your filament and machine - see more details below
- Select the profile based on the ideal tolerance and print the quantities as required
The test profile consists of 3 similar links with slightly differing tolerances of 0.10mm, 0.12mm and 0.14mm between the ball and link. The tolerance is embossed on the side of the test pieces for easy identification (not present on the actual links). Once printed, use a small allen key or bolt to jiggle the ball loose within the link. Ideally the ball will be slightly rigid but free up with some light wiggling, if you need to force it too hard then the tolerance is too tight. If the ball is a little tight in the link, that is fine, it will quickly free up with some light use. If you'd like to adjust the tolerance even further, then you can try adjusting your filament flow rate slightly +/- 0.01 or 0.02, which may tighten or loosen that tolerance slightly.
Within the three main profiles the links are separated by length on to separate plates. You can identify the link length easily by checking the name of the plate. Alternatively, you can click on the object and check the STL name, as detailed below.
Identifying the link sizes / types:
If you're downloading the STL's or have just mixed up the links inside the profile for printing then you can can quickly identify it by the name of the STL. The first two digits are the link length, second two digits are the tolerance between ball and link and the final letter is the type.
i.e. below image shows a 53mm link, with 0.10 tolerance and S-straight link (B=bent).

LINK LENGTHS
FYI - here are the standard link lengths based on model. I've had trouble confirming, but I believe the MT uses the same links as the HT.
| MODEL | Front Upper | Front Lower | Rear Upper | Rear Lower |
TRX4M (Bronco/defender) | 46mm (48mm recommended) | 53mm | 68mm | 68mm |
TRX4M-HT (F150/K-10) | 48mm | 55mm | 74mm | 74mm |
