Description
Hey guys,
While planning a trip to Japan, my wife found a store in Tokyo that gives out Super Mario-style plastic covers for Coca-Cola bottles.
Since she didn’t want to wait, I made one for her.
We've already used several of these bottle hats in different colors and with various letters for a birthday party—so people wouldn’t mix up their bottles. Everyone wanted to take their hat home! 😊
This hat is designed for the newer (slightly smaller) bottle caps.
On the second build plate, you’ll find a reference body with the same inner diameter.
If you're unsure about the size of your bottle cap, print the reference body first—it’s a very quick print and doesn’t require support.
Duplicate the reference bodies a few times, make gradual size adjustments, and print them.
Then, choose the best-fitting one and apply the size change to the hat before printing.
To change the letter on the cap, simply follow the instructions in the pictures.
To keep the print support-free (and minimize the number of color/filament changes due to the letter), I placed the cap upright on the print bed. This requires adding a brim around the print and some cleanup after printing.
If you want to use colors other than red and white, please change the filament AFTER slicing.
In this case, it’s easier than changing the color before slicing because of a third color area in the cap’s visor due to the way I colored the circle around the letter. Changing the color after slicing allows you to ignore this issue.
Have fun!
