Description
A lifesaver for thumbs and fingers in the woodworking shop! This holder will securely hold a 6-inch or 5-inch cabinet/card scraper at your desired curvature without having to constantly exert pressure on the card. The holder gives you something to grip onto easily while scraping a wood surface on the pull or push stroke. With tapered thumb screws to secure the card at any height, and an oversized bolt block apparatus to adjust the curvature of your scraper, you can fine tune your scraper orientation to your exact preferences.
Indents for your thumbs and index fingers are provided to allow a number of possible grips. You can grab the sides of the holder for power during heavy stock removal or use the thumb grips and index finger indents for fine control and finessing during final finishing.
Two sizes available in the print profiles: 6-inch scrapers and 5-inch scrapers
The 6-inch holder has been tested with the Veritas 6-inch Cabinet Scraper and fits well.
The updated 5-inch holder has been tested with the DFM 5-inch Card Scraper and fits perfectly.
Printed in parts with some assembly required. Refer to the exploded view below:
TIP: When slotting in the cabinet scraper, loosen the thumb screws and tap them down to push the tapered cones out of the slots to make room for the scraper.
A drop of 3-in-1 Oil in the threads of the bolt block apparatus helps smooth operation of the bolt.
PLA was sufficiently strong to hold a curve and scrape the surface of Ash hardwood. Consider printing in PETG for more durability.
As always, exercise caution handling scrapers or sharp edges. Use at your own risk.
