Description
Meijiaxin 14303 is quite fun, but its powerful motor leads to rapid battery drain, and having to undo four R-clips each time is cumbersome.
Many magnetic mounts are available commercially, but they are generally expensive.
Since I own a 3D printer, I wanted to create a superior, user-friendly option.
Searching MakerWorld for relevant models yielded only incomplete designs. Therefore, I developed a complete solution addressing several shortcomings of existing mounts. I meticulously considered every crucial aspect, achieving a design that closely aligns with my vision of perfection.
Cautionary Note: After extensive use, I discovered significant differences between magnetic and R-clip shells for the 14303 and similar designs:
1. Magnetic shells: Generally detach upon impact, requiring manual intervention, but reattachment is easy.
2. R-clip shells: Withstand impacts unless overturned, but wear out quickly.
Those expecting magnetic shells to replicate the robustness of factory-installed clips may be disappointed. Consider this in advance to avoid unmet expectations.

- Lower Center of Gravity

The 14303, being a high-performance vehicle, often experiences lateral drift. A lower center of gravity significantly mitigates rollover during such maneuvers. While the magnetic mount's twelve magnets are not excessively heavy, lowering their placement further optimizes vehicle stability—a feature absent in previously reviewed mounts.
- Enhanced Aesthetics

Typical mounts utilize flat circular washers on the exterior, clashing with the shell's sloped design. This prevents proper adhesion, causing the washers to flatten the shell during tightening. My design ensures seamless integration with the shell and screws.
- Superior Magnet Protection

Purely magnetic connections increase the likelihood of shell detachment during collisions compared to R-clips. Strong magnets are brittle, and the chassis is heavy; impacts can easily damage them. My design incorporates recessed magnet protection, safeguarding them during collisions.
- Easier Magnetic Alignment

The recessed design, coupled with sloped inlets, simplifies and enhances magnetic alignment. Simple placement ensures precise connection.
- More Precise Upper Mount Installation

The upper mount's curvature perfectly mirrors the shell's, precisely matching the shell's angle and ensuring optimal magnetic engagement. Integrated locating holes in the mount maximize installation stability.
Required Materials (User-Supplied):
- Magnets:
Lower mount: 12mm (diameter) * 5mm (thickness, typically 4.5mm) * 3mm (bore) – 6 pieces. Ideally, purchase 20 opposing magnets (specify to the seller), 10 for each orientation, to ensure sufficient spares. (If using magnets of the same thickness as the upper mount, you'll need to print a 2-3mm spacer or use several metallic shims.)
Upper mount: 12mm (diameter) * 3mm (thickness, typically 2.5mm) * 3mm (bore) – 6 pieces. Purchase opposing magnets. - Countersunk Screws:
M3, 8mm length – 12 pieces. - Extension Cable:
At least 15cm, 20cm is preferable. - Conductive Shims:

Installation Instructions:
Overall installation is straightforward:
To maintain a low center of gravity, the lower mount's original head must be removed using flush cutters, leaving only the flat base. (Crucial)
Pay close attention to the shell washers:
1. After positioning, align the thicker side with the lower side of the shell.
2. Use needle-nose pliers to control the orientation.
3. Tighten the screws to secure the angle.
