Trosky Castle

I created a model of this castle because I need it for my game in the Facebook group "In the Footsteps of the Kingdom, Deliverance Will Come" (fb group).

Trosky is a ruined castle atop a hill of the same name, located in the cadastral area of Troskovice, Semily District, Liberec Region. It lies within the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area and also the Bohemian Paradise Geopark. The castle is state-owned (managed by the National Heritage Institute) and open to the public. Since 2002, it has been listed among the National Cultural Monuments.[1]

The ruin is a symbol of Bohemian Paradise and one of the most visited castles in the Czech Republic. In the upper parts of the hill lies the protected area of the Trosky nature reserve. With an altitude of 511 meters (Panna cone), the hill is the highest point of the Vyšší Mountains. The altitude of the Baby cone reaches 502 meters.[2]

The castle was founded in the fourteenth century. It played an important role during the Hussite Wars, when it belonged to the Lords of Bergov and, along with other castles in the vicinity, formed a significant bulwark of the Catholic side. At that time, the castle withstood two sieges and was only conquered in 1469 by the army of King George of Poděbrady. From the second half of the fifteenth century, Trosky ceased to serve as a noble residence. It belonged to the Kost castle estate and later to Hrubé Skály. In the last third of the Thirty Years' War, the castle was alternately occupied and conquered by Swedish and imperial troops. After the war, it was no longer maintained and gradually turned into ruins.
