Tatting Shuttle

This tatting shuttle is ideal for yarn and thread work in tatting / lace making.  

It's small and easy to carry for use anywhere.

I made this particular tatting shuttle with a hook to help join picots.

I made two versions available, one with a smooth outer contour and the other with dimples at the exact centre point of the piece for when the thread or yarn is loaded and you want to unload it, the dimples make that process easy, fast and fun.
 

It can also be printed in either left or right handed configurations.  The current files are right handed, but it is very easy to simply mirror the mesh in your slicer.

Each tatting shuttle takes less than 30 minutes to print and only weighs in at 6g.

For printing, I use the standard supports on the snug setting.  I also configured the piece to sit on the plate so that the hook curves up - this makes it easier for post processing after the print is complete.

I recommend that you use snips to cut the supports under the hook, to avoid bending it, as it is very thin and easy to overstress.  I also carefully sanded all the curvatures to make it as smooth as possible.
