Description
A custom battery base for the Xiaomi Mijia e-ink thermometer pro, utilizing standard AA batteries.
Given this thermometer's considerable power consumption—requiring two button cell batteries every six months on average—the considerable cost became prohibitive. Finding aesthetically pleasing battery enclosures proved equally challenging, prompting the creation of this design.
One standard AA battery holder is required; an un-switched type is recommended, readily available online at minimal cost.
A single battery holder suffices for normal operation.
The print files include two custom CR2032 button cell battery facsimiles, designed to interface with the battery holder’s wiring. A section of exposed wire from the battery holder should be inserted into the designated holes and twisted together; the positive terminal should be on the outer ring, the negative in the center. Exercise care to prevent accidental contact between the exposed positive and negative wires.
