Description
The DO4ME: An O4 Lite anti-jello whoop canopy for 25.5mmX25.5mm builds.
Available in 15-45 degree angles, at 5 degree increments. 15 degrees pictured.
I switched to DJI O4 for my Whoop and 2" drones, and love the footage quality. As usual though, there's issues, and none of the existing models quite felt right. The best canopy I've seen encorporates a DJI Neo ND Filter slot, which is great, but I don't need it. I also scuffed up an O4 lite camera spanking my whoop into a wall, the floor, a tree or two…
So, I modified the original dome for an O4 air unit (lite). And, obviously, I love it. It provides more protection for the camera, holds everything fairly neatly, is easy to print and install… and looks like something sci-fi again.
This is an early version, I've refined it slightly to improve some ghosting I had on the first version. This one feels about right for general use. On quads that run hot you might wanna throw it open in your favourite editing software and punch a bunch of holes in it… But, I've not gotten around to doing that yet.
So far the quality is hugely improved, I had terrible jello on my 2" build, with both a hard mount and the meteor65 canopy with soft mounts. I chucked this on and it's significantly improved. Feel free to print it and tell me if I'm wrong, but I think it's better than the originals.
If you're sorting out the print profile yourself:
- Use Tree supports, auto, they're fine.
- Add support blockers to the bottom of the camera-lens bumper, so that you don't have a tree trunk in the front screw hole, they can be a pain to remove.
- Add a height range modifier for 20mm onwards (20mm-50mm works fine) and cut the speed in half. This makes the top of the dome super solid, and avoids any layer separation.
With 2 walls and 3 top/bottom layers it weighs between 3 and 4 grams, which is about reasonable for any O4 canopy.
