And in 3rd version, the blades, [handle tail] and [handle internal shell] are compatible with the 2nd version.

 

I never thought I would have made a 3rd version of my Collapsible Katana.

 

Inspired by Alex and newly released H2D, I found some time to optimize this little toy, again.  And I think this might be the last version.

To my perspective, it is perfect now.

 

What are addressed in the 3rd version?

  1. Introduced by Alex, I made a spring structure to avoid using the rubber ring. Additionally, I left 2 bars around the spring, which could be observed at the second thumbnail, so that the bars could work as the position limiter. When you grab the lock to release the blades, this bar will help to position correctly.
  2. With the optimization above, now there are more space on the blade guard. So I added a interlock structure. Now we don't need to use glue to install the handle.

 

To celebrate the H2D's release, this time I made two profiles, one for H2D, the other for X1/P1/A1. 

 

In H2D profile, the handle is made by one piece. since there are 2 nozzles, there is no much waste for 2 color printing. 

This relieves from ripping off the support structure in X1/P1/A1 profile.

 

The assembly is shown in the thumbnails, it should not be difficult. Have fun!!

Also, I have opened the parameters of the guard part, so that you could make your own decorations if interested.

The thickness of the guard is 7.6mm, and radius of round corner is 3mm.
