Description

This is a 2-part vertical grip for the Nintendo Switch.  It was designed for my OLED vesion, it may also work with the non-OLED original version, but I haven't tested it as I don't own one.  There is an inner TPU piece and an outer hard plastic shell.  I made a variety of prototypes in different styles/materials and settled on a 2-part print.  This allows the console to be slid into a TPU shell to not scratch anything and give a functional moveable locking tab, and a hard outer shell to help prevent flexing during use.  There are vent holes correctly aligned to allow the console to breathe, the joycon rails are mounted to allow them to be level with the bottom of the grip for table placement and the grip allows the use of a screen protector with proper clearance.

If you want to use Mechanism's line of mounts and accessories like their excellent kickstand, print the 3MF with the mount.  I'd recommend printing via Bambu Studio desktop and not the mobile app.  Printing via mobile will clear my preset slicer overrides so be aware of that.  The TPU inner piece for example needs Arachne mode to print the vent holes properly and the outer piece joycon rail locking tabs print cleaner with the support settings I have set for example.

After printing, carefully slide the TPU piece into the outer shell, bend the locking tab out enough to allow it to fully slide in.  Then slide the Switch into the print and push the locking tab in to secure the Switch into the grip.  The kickstand it was designed for is available here:

The mount it attaches to was provided by Mechanism's digital files available here:

The inner piece I used Bambu TPU for AMS and I used PLA for the outer shell.
