Description

Replacement battery tray for the SCX24 JLU 1/24 scale RC crawler. When swapping to a larger brushed motor, ie the original 030 motor to a 050, you have to cut off the leg of the original battery tray to clear the larger motor. I always want to retain the stock componentry to be able to return the truck to stock if I need to one day, so cutting up the original parts would not be ideal.

So I went about designing a quick tray that I could omit 1 leg to clear the bigger motor. As I fiddled with it, I realized that I could retain that leg, and just notch it to clear the motor, and it worked!

If for some reason yours doesn't clear, you can just chop off the leg completely of the 3d print and also preserve your original tray.

I printed it in TPU, because I have an old spool laying around that I'm trying to chew through, but it actually worked out nicely, and holds the battery nice and securely with the original strap. It also probably limits how much the battery slides around. But you could print this in pretty much any filament and it'll do the job.

Happy crawling!
