Description

Hide-a-Key Electrical Box

This is a clever and discreet way to hide a spare house key in case you ever get locked out. The box looks like a common electrical conduit box, so it blends in well. It's held closed with magnets, making it easy to open when needed. Inside, there’s space to store your keys or other small items. It also has drain holes to let out any water that might get in.

What You’ll Need:

  • 5 screws (#6 x 1/2" Phillips Pan Head):
    • 2 for the cover (to look like real screws)
    • 2 to attach the conduit connector underneath (or use glue)
    • 1 to secure the conduit to the pipe (or use glue)
  • 8 magnets (6x3 mm):
These hold the cover in place.
Alternative: If you prefer a stronger, screw-on lid instead of magnets, use 2 screws (#6 x 1") — you’ll need a screwdriver to open it.
  • 1 mounting screw (#10 x 1-1/2” or similar):
To attach the box to your home.
  • ½" Electrical Conduit PVC cut to whatever length you need.

Tip for Extra Security:

Install the box in a locked or gated area for added protection. Don't tell people you have it, especially people you don't know.
