Ten years ago, I bought a Raspberry Pi, and a decade later, I decided I couldn't let it gather dust. Inspired by others' weather display projects, I devised a plan to put it to good use. To keep it from accumulating dust, I bought an expensive e-ink display... At my age, I even learned some Python, and programmed batch conversions of vector graphics to bitmaps, along with various layout designs. Everything was ready, except for a base. After designing the base, I pulled out my two-year-old, dusty DIY 3D printer, only to encounter consistent layer shifting issues (see image 3). The manufacturer is now defunct, and I don't even know what firmware it used. I couldn't let it bother me, so on the morning of January 1st, 2025, I bought a Bambu Lab A1. After a successful test print of a small boat model, I was amazed at how good and fast the 3D printing experience could be. It turns out I'd been at the mercy of the printer all along; now I can finally take control. The base I designed printed successfully on the first try. The texture is surprisingly good, I wouldn't say it's particularly beautiful, but it's undeniably stunning. My aesthetic sensibilities, even for an older man, remain quite sharp. My only regret now is not having gone straight for the P1SC.
