Boost Me (for free)
Every boost helps motivate me to keep restoring and importing more great works of art into MakerWorld. Thanks for supporting this ongoing project!
This remix is based on a 3D scan of Der Denker (The Thinker), a life-size sculpture by Auguste Rodin, located in Vienna’s 22nd district. Rodin’s Thinker, originally conceived between 1880 and 1882, represents contemplative struggle and creative intensity. The Vienna version is part of a public installation by Antik-Möbel-Hesz and retains the pose’s muscular weight, emotional tension, and classical form. The scan was provided by noe-3d.at and shared under a non-commercial license via Sketchfab.
I began with the .obj file and imported it into Bambu Studio. I repaired the mesh, smoothed surface inconsistencies, and leveled the base for improved bed adhesion. I re-oriented the model for optimal slicing and support placement, and maximized the scale for A1 printers while maintaining structural printability. Custom supports were added to reinforce the chin-hand connection, elbow, and thigh.
Printed in Elegoo Marble PLA using the Generic High-Speed PLA profile. After printing, I used a file and fine-grit sandpaper to remove support contact points, especially along the forearm, nose, and hands.
Note: Tall prints can lose adhesion in the final moments. Please wash your build plate prior to printing. Or consider scaling down 10%. I've also had really good luck using BIQU Cryogrip Pro Frostbite build plates.
