Introduction

AndonGen lets you turn any image or SVG into a custom panel for a traditional Japanese andon lamp.
Just upload your file, adjust the size, and instantly generate an STL file ready for 3D printing.

How to Use
- Upload a black-and-white PNG or SVG image
- Adjust size and placement as needed

- Open the file in Bambu Studio – all print settings are included

Design Suggestions
This lamp works especially well with designs that emphasize contrast and silhouette, such as:
- Papercut-style vector art
- Calligraphic kanji characters
- Traditional Japanese patterns and geometric motifs
- Nature-inspired seasonal themes
The soft light reveals depth and character, turning simple forms into quiet, expressive shadows.

Customization Tips
You can also enjoy variations in mood and tone by changing the filament color or LED light source:
- Black filament with warm LEDs → traditional and calm
- White or translucent filament with cool LEDs → modern and clean
- Colored LEDs → bold and artistic expression
Even small changes in material or lighting can bring out subtle beauty in the design.
About the Surface Quality
The panels are automatically set to print at a thickness of around 0.2 mm.
When printed on a textured PEI build plate, the surface takes on a translucent finish that resembles shoji or handmade washi paper.
This soft diffusion of LED light was the inspiration for this project,
bringing a calm, ambient glow that quietly transforms any space.
