Silent Vocal Training Mask – A New Tool for Singers and Speech Therapists
An innovative idea inspired by a Spanish phoniatrician: the use of a ventilation mask – similar to those used in anesthesia – as a support for vocal warm-up and improvement of sound emission. On these bases, a maker project dedicated to singers, actors, speech therapists, and anyone who works with the voice was born.
The Project
I have designed a handcrafted and highly functional tool that allows you to sing at full voice while drastically reducing sound emissions: up to -45 dB. This means that the singer can work on support, resonance, and respiratory support without disturbing the surrounding environment – perfect for those who study at home or in shared spaces.
How It Works
The mask creates a semi-closed environment that:
Promotes retroaction (internal sound feedback)
Increases muscle awareness during emission
Allows you to exercise your voice at full power without acoustic dispersion
The design uses the principles of expiratory resistance used in vocal therapy, combining them with a sound-absorbing structure to achieve advanced acoustic insulation.
Results
More effective and targeted training
No disturbance to those around
Tool perfectly compatible with phoniatric indications
Improvement of the voice in terms of timbre, control, and resistance
