Seal box under desk rail

I store my unused spools in a sealed drybox.   They can hold up to 5 spools and I can also put dessiccant bags in it to keep them dry.  However, they were put on the table or on the floor which mess with my work place.

I designed this rail which is mount under the desk with skews, and use stainless steel pipe as rail.  The boxes can slide in and hang on the rail on its edge.  They are neatly kept under the desk and easy to access whenever I need them.  Now the desktop is freed up and the floor is easy to sweep.

I made this rail because I didn't found something similiar here.  I hope this can help others with similar needs.

There are two mounts: single sided and double sided, you can combine them and mount under your desk or shelf.   Note always measure the distance between rails before screw in, they are not too close or too far away so the box can slide in easily and sit there stable.

For rails I use stainless steel pipe with diameter 15mm and thickness 2mm.  There is a small cylinder where you can insert your pipe on it.  If you use a different pipe you will need to remix.  The length of pipe depends on the size of the box or application.

The screw hole is for M4 self tapping screws.  Length is 15 or 20 depends on board thickness.

For installation, install one mount first, them insert the pipe.  Then insert another mount on the other end and install it.  Note you must install the mount with the pipe, this design does not allow you remove or click on the pipe after both end of the mount is installed, which makes this rail pretty secure.

Print: print with 50% infill or whatever number you feel comfortable.  A box with 5 rolls of filament and dessiccants can weight about 8kg, the are 8 skews per box so it should be enough, make sure your infill is large enough to hold the weight you need, good luck!
