Description
🔋 LiFePO₄ Battery Box for Telescope Field Use
A rugged, field-ready battery box designed to house three 12V 8Ah LiFePO₄ batteries (like this one on Amazon – I used the 8Ah version). Built with astrophotography in mind, it powers my mount, camera, ASIAIR, and dew heaters — potentially through multiple nights under the stars.

⚙️ Design Features
- Reinforced handle — can accommodate a flashlight with an optional red TPU filter (planned for future update)
- Snap-in TPU gasket — holds batteries in place with light compression and shock absorption
- TPU anti-slip feet — improve field stability and reduce impact on rough surfaces
- Panel cutouts — designed to fit a standard voltmeter/USB/switch/12V panel like this one
🛠️ Hardware Required
- 3 × 12V LiFePO₄ batteries (approx. 151×65×95 mm each)
- M3 × 20 mm screws for latch and hinge
- M8 × 25 mm bolts for the handle
🖨️ Recommended Print Materials
- TPU (Shore 95A): feet, gasket, flashlight filter, and handle
- PLA or PETG: lid and box body (PLA recommended for easier printing)
🔧 Designed in Fusion 360 based on an excellent rugged box design (linked). All STLs are ready to print and assemble.
