Description
The A-10 Thunderbolt II, commonly known as the “Warthog,” is a U.S. close air support aircraft designed around a massive 30mm GAU-8/A Avenger rotary cannon. Developed in the 1970s, it was built to destroy tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets while surviving heavy fire. The A-10 is heavily armored, can fly low and slow, and has redundant systems to keep it flying even after taking damage. Its straight wing design allows excellent maneuverability at low speeds and short takeoff and landing capability. Loved by troops on the ground, the A-10 has proven itself in conflicts like the Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
