I sought a notebook stand to position my ThinkPad upright beside my monitor. In video conferences, a higher camera position significantly improves the visual presentation 😉. Moreover, this enhances screen ergonomics and considerably reduces the laptop's desktop footprint.

The inability to use the keyboard and touchpad presents no inconvenience, as I utilize an external mouse and keyboard.

My search for pre-made models proved disappointing: too large, too bulky—or the notebook wouldn't stand correctly. I desired a small, stable, and portable solution ensuring the laptop stands perfectly vertical.

Consequently, I promptly designed a stand, subsequently adapting it for various laptops and scenarios.
Subsequent office inquiries and numerous prints for colleagues finally prompted me to share this creation on MakerWorld. Perhaps others will find it equally useful!

Three versions, all in regular use, are provided as individual models with links in their descriptions.

Note: The specified thickness refers to the portion inserted into the stand. For laptops, this is solely the base (keyboard) thickness, not that of the display assembly.

Model 1: The Minimalist

  • For laptops/tablets up to 10 mm thick (e.g., ThinkPad, Lenovo Yoga, iPad – see photos)
  • Compact, stable, and without a front foot. Weight of 2 stands: 25 g
  • Perfect for the home or travel (e.g., iPad on the train)
  • Advantage: exceptionally space-saving, unobtrusive
  • Note: I have never experienced a laptop tipping over. However, if accidental impact is a concern, Model 2 is recommended.

Model 2: The Tip-Proof (THIS Model)

  • Also for laptops/tablets up to 10 mm thick (e.g., ThinkPad, Lenovo Yoga, iPad – see photos)
  • Added front foot for enhanced stability
  • Ideal for the office or any situation demanding absolute reliability

Model 3: The Universal

  • For thicker devices up to 25 mm, e.g., gaming laptops
  • Highly stable, even for heavy devices
  • Usable with the laptop closed—as a space-saving desktop mount
  • Naturally slightly larger, but highly versatile

All versions are lightweight, compact, and easily portable. Feedback and experiences are most welcome!!

UPDATE: The stand only functions with fully-opening laptops. My personal experience is limited to Lenovo laptops, which are compatible. I assumed all laptops opened this way, but this is not the case. I recently encountered an Acer laptop with an approximately 150-degree opening limit. Therefore, please check your laptop before printing 😉
