Description

A simple replacement for the Nalgene 1,000ml bottle cap strap, leash, or tether (whichever is your preferred nomenclature). I've included a parametric Autodesk Fusion file in case you want to adjust the sizes to suit your specific water bottle. Simply open the Change Parameters menu, set BottleNeckDiameter and CapLoopDiameter to the inner diameter sizes of your old strap and you're ready to export and print. You can also adjust StrapLength if you want a longer or shorter tether.

After hard use, the originals eventually break and nobody wants to sacrifice their water bottle for a few weeks to send it off to Nalgene to replace. It's a quick fix.

  1. Remove the old strap using a craft knife

  2. If necessary, measure the inner loop diameters of the old strap and enter those dimensions into the Change Parameters menu in Fusion

  3. Print in TPU

  4. Swear prolifically while you pull and stretch the new strap into place. Tip: you can temporarily soften the TPU in some hot water to give it a bit more flex.
