Description

G'Day, jak się masz!

6x9 speakers are often a pain to mount somewhere in your car, boat, RV or home. These 6x9 speaker pods have versatile mounting orientations due to the 45 degree angle that the speaker is mounted to the pod. Screw holes are already pre-formed on both mount surfaces allowing for a very secure corner mount.

Ample room inside for muffle wadding or sound deadening mat to tune the timbre to your preference.

Printing

The pods have been designed to fit on an A1, P1, X1 or H2D build plate.

An inner and outer brim has been added to the pods to ensure that they don’t self-release from the build plate during printing. Use a good quality ABS filament combined with a build plate adhesive or ABS Pro (less shrinkage). If you find that the print is delaminating from the build plate, try increasing the build plate temperature to 100🌡️ if the build plate adhesive is not enough.

Optional

To mount your speakers, you can carefully drive self taping screws into the plastic or use threaded heat inserts.

Fitment

If hanging by two screws, you make need to use large washers at the screw shank side or wood board/metal flat bar to reinforce the speaker pod from the inside.

If corner mounting, you can drive screws in all 4 mount points.

Resonators and tuning you pod/speaker combo

The square opening on the side of the pod allows you to glue in a resonator pipe for tuning the pod and speaker combination. Two resonator pipe sizes are available to get the bass frequency tuned to your specifications. An added curved neck or port has been designed in to reduce “chuffing” noise from and optimise the air flow efficiency.

To give a tuning example, a 76mm long rectangular pipe for 26x39mm average opening will give you a resonant frequency of 100Hz. You can calculate your own tuned pipe here by changing the “Resonance frequency” value to what you require. Print the 60Hz or 100Hz tube and cut down to the specific length to suit.
