Secures the controller and allows you to hang the headset in the cockpit while leaving all buttons accessible.
There is a clip on the side to secure it to the elastic band on the carrying case, but it should also fit inside the case. There is a model without the clip if you don't plan on using it.
Fits an A320 cockpit, I would hope that is common across other airbus's but cannot confirm. Haven't been able to find any info online.
