Description

Have you ever wanted to have a real live fusion cannon? I did. So i made one.

With so many different versions and design inconsistencies, I sometimes had to choose how exactly to interpret various details, but it is as accurate to the G1 show as possible.

Materials needed:

You'll need some glue for assembly and two velcro strips or something comparable if you want you wear it on your own arm.

Printing:

There are four parts to print, three of them being quite large. Printing all at 0.16 layer height printing will take about 1.5 days, but that's the price you pay for having your own fusion cannon.

Many of the parts require supports, but I cut the model up in a way that the bulk of them are in places that won't bee seen after assembly, except for quite a few of the details. Many of those should print fine without the supports, but it's your decision whether you prefer some possible marks by the supports or possibly worse details form the overhangs. You know best what your printer can handle. As is, all the details have supports enabled.

Using a smooth build plate will result in a cleaner looking print.

Assembly:

Assembly is very easy, glue together the main three parts as shown below and add the little red detail on the back:

Note: The red detail is sometimes shown as black and sometimes left out entirely, so you can take it or leave it however you prefer.

I'd also advise to glue the velcro strips in place to avoid sliding.

Scale:

The finished cannon is almost 60 cm long.

Filament:

I used generic black PLA filament (Anycubic I think) but a silk black or metallic looking filament could look very nice as well.

All that being said, happy printing!
