French Press Glow: Mid Century Coffee Maker Lamp

Inspired by the classic French press coffee maker, this lamp brews up a touch of ambience with the flick of a switch. The transparent chamber glows beautifully when lit, simulating a fresh brew with warm red-orange hues. Perfect for your desk, nightstand, or coffee nook. Great gift for the coffee lover in your life.

Features and Assembly Instructions: 

Requires minimal assembly. Simply assemble the parts using superglue. Glue legs to base, glue handle to metal assembly, and glue assembly to base. Lid and “glass” cylinder simply rest on top of the LED light. Total assembly time: less than 10 minutes.

Compatible with the Lamp Kit 001 from Bambu. 

Print profile settings are set to optimize the following, but can be adjusted:

1. Transparency of the cylinder - Infill in the “faceted” print profile is set at 10% infill. To get a clear effect, you can set infill for just the cylinder object to 0% and increase the number of walls. However, in my experiments so far there has been a very visible seam line. I find the seam line is nicely hidden with the faceted effect infill gives. If you experiment and have good results with changing infill and walls on the cylinder for light diffusion - please post your photos and settings in the comments!
2. Variable layer height on the dome - variable layer height on the dome of the lid helps ease the curve of the shape.
3. Supports - ON for the lid and metal assembly. No supports needed for other parts.

Other notes:

“Coffee” Basic PLA is slightly translucent and shows light through, while Bambu Wood PLA is opaque and does not allow light to pass through. You can experiment with different infills and filaments for the coffee portion of the cylinder. You can use layer height painting to adjust the “coffee” level in the French Press.
