Description
We already have three air conditioners at home, but we're not allowed to install another one in the computer room, so I made a little gadget
It uses the AC vent hole for ventilation because over time, the screen lost its original cooling efficiency and became like a translucent glass
So the fan couldn't dissipate the heat in the room. I originally wanted two fans, one for exhausting air and the other for direct blowing, but the fan wires on the floor were annoying
Since I mainly use the computer at night, it's cool outside but hot inside. So, getting the heat out of the room and letting the screen window passively dissipate heat solved the problem
A few years ago, I remembered a DIY project where someone drilled a hole in their wall and installed a super powerful fan, but I can't find where that fan came from. It was a whole cylinder, very powerful
This is the second version. The first version was a cylinder with the fan completely inside. Testing showed that ventilation relied entirely on the fan speed, and it got very noisy at high speeds
Later, this version utilized the chimney effect or some similar effect. By leaving a gap, the air isn't lost and forms an air duct, carrying the surrounding air out, requiring only very low fan speeds
It uses a 4028 server fan (12v4a), which is very powerful at full speed. For even more power, you can use a 4056 fan
Normally, you should add a PWM speed controller because server fans are noisy when running powerfully. If it's very hot, run it at full speed; if not, just a little speed is enough to move the air
The cylinder diameter is 65mm, and the fan is fixed with screws
