Description

This is a new version of my "Guitar Capo (Compliant)" design, now featuring a TPU touch end for improved grip, adaptability, and reduced buzzing.

The original refined version already solved most of the issues found in early iterations—such as buzzing on classical guitars, weak points in the arms, and insufficient tension with flexible filaments. It included:

  • Optimized neck grip for better clamping strength, especially on classical guitars.
  • Reinforced structure to prevent breakage and early loosening.
  • Material-specific versions for PLA, PETG, and ABS.
  • Custom brims for easy printing without messy supports.
  • Two touch-end geometries: Flat (classical) & Rounded (acoustic/electric).

What’s new in this remix?
Some users still reported light buzzing - obvious under aggressive playing for me too - despite all the refinements. The TPU touch end solves this by adding flexibility where the capo meets the strings, giving it more tolerance across all guitar neck shapes and handling harder strumming with ease.

 

Printing tips:

Note: I’m currently testing an AMS version to print both parts together in one go, but for less material use and faster prints, I recommend printing them separately and assembling afterward.

  • Print the TPU Touch End and the rigid split body as separate parts. TPU touch ends are compatible with all body types, just print a rounded body for acoustic/electric guitars or a flat body for Spanish/classical guitars.
  • The wall count recommendations on the main body are crucial for a properly donctioning Guitar Capo. Used also painted organic supports from the standard print profiles for better stability during printing and easier support removal.

Assembly tips:

  • After Printing two parts seperately, you need to Slide the Touchend trough the path main body has.
  • Use the wall count recommendations from the main design for the body.
